It is a time of hope, a time of trial, a time of opportunity…
What better time to celebrate us, We the People?
In this group show The Loft at Liz’s demonstrates that art is the purest form of communication between the individual—the artist, the viewer–and the masses. ‘We the People’ brings together ten artists, each conveying the enormous power of people, both individually and collectively.
Paul Torres’s painted crowds of colorful characters show his unique perspective of the world, and we the people who inhabit it. Rick Simpson navigates through natural and social themes both real and imagined, while transcending traditional technique using digital technology. Rebecca Molayem sculpts and paints ceramic plates with whimsically expressive and voluptuous characters. Carlos Hernandez explores the human condition on large-scale canvases, painting what it means to live, love, mourn and celebrate. Abstracting and layering the human figure, the paintings ofTed Meyer resemble colorful geometric puzzles. Jabari Elliottt, influenced by graffiti art, uses characters to portray an urban message. Gary Palmer’s oil paintings are influenced by his extensive travels in East Africa. No subject is off-limitsfor painter G. Wahl, as she uses her medium as a tool for self-discovery and communication. Kay Gott’s intricately woven dolls personify the icons of familiar stories and fairy tales. The opening reception will feature live portrait painting by Max Neutra.
