BIO
Vladimir Sierra is a Colombian-born artist formally trained as an orbital analyst. Vladimir’s ability to visualize object motion in three dimensions led him eventually to pursue a career in animation. Sierra’s body of work ranges from hand-drawn animation to mosaic and digital installations. Currently, Vladimir creates a type of mosaic which he came to term “ukiyotile” in which groups of like-sized tiles organically grow to fill the forms they represent. He was inspired by Japanese ukiyo-e prints from the 1800’s and Spanish modernista architecture.

His evolution as an artist has been largely driven by a desire to distill sensual beauty out of simple forms and thoughtful repetition of patterns. Vladimir’s work has been exhibited in a variety of galleries and private collections along the East and West Coast.
