Artist Statement

My recent surrealist work, delves into the subconscious and the spirit world.

Here, ladies in skirts of faces represent the many emotions and alternative personae that live inside us.
The animal/human hybrids populate a landscape that resonates between the spirit world and the reality we occupy, while shaman boys pave the way for a new understanding.  Among my inspirations are:  Russian fairy tales my grandmother told me, the paintings of Goya, classical myth, Lewis Carroll, Renaissance natural history engravings, Carl Jung, and my ongoing exploration of what it means to be a human.
